Absumsa reinstated, elects new exco
It is official.
The suspension placed indefinitely on the Abia State University Medical Students Association (ABSUMSA) has been lifted by the Vice Chancellor, Prof. Uche Ikonne, to much joy and gratitude by the students of Medicine and Surgery.
Subsequently, fresh elections were held separately in both schools of preclinical sciences in Uturu, and clinical sciences in ABSUTH, Aba.
The elections in the Clinical arm held on the 10th of August, 2017, with a total of 192 students voting, supervised by the Dean, Faculty of Clinical Medicine, Prof Stephen Onwere and the HOD, Dept of Pathology, Dr. S.A.U. Offiah; while the elections in the Preclinical arm held the next day, 11th August, 2017 with 309 students voting.
At the end of a smooth voting process, Eke-Otuka Uzochukwu emerged winner of the presidential post, narrowly beating his opponent, Kanu Uchenna by 112 votes to 81. Below is the full list of winners:
