RECESSION MAY CONTINUE TILL 2018
I wish to use this medium to pay respect to all my Whatsapp contacts today because I believe in the great potentials God has deposited in you all, I also urge MMM to release the hard-earned monies of Nigerians and continue with the hope they brought to Nigerians but I would love to draw your attention to an important issue.
Last year 2015, I wrote about the unemployment rate in Nigeria and it was pegged at 9.9 percent but 2016 became worse because according to NBS; the number of unemployed youths rose to 21.5 million. Even Dangote lost one third of his wealth and fell from 46 position to 112 richest in the world.
The most dramatic of all is that ILO and Trading Economics have predicted that in 2017 the unemployment rate may rise to an all time high of 16% which means over 30 million Nigerians would be unemployed in 2017. (My God).
Let me be precise and concise here: the economic recession may get tougher in 2017.
WHAT IS THE WAY OUT?
We need to forget about our (Technically confused) government, roll up our sleeves and get into the mud.
This is the time to put a lot of energy into your skills and talent, only those who have an edge over their peers will succeed in this period. It's not enough to be a "Graduate" you have to compete with over 20 million graduates to secure a job, Most of them have 1st class, 2nd class upper and Lower. Then what makes you different from them all? You as an under-graduate you only eat, go to class, write exams and wait for holidays to go back home. It's a dangerous trend please this is the time to discover your talents, don't wait till you graduate from the university. Last week, over 500 workers were sacked by NNPC,even government organizations have joined private companies in sacking workers and there is a new revelation that multi- national companies e.g MTN, Chevron, Glaxosmithkline etc may secretly lay off more workers in 2017. We need to learn skills, we need to forget about working in air-conditioned offices and putting on suits, some of us need to go back to the farm. Personally, I wouldn't mind working in a rice mill because with the millions of people in daily need of rice, one can never get broke.
Please I need to stop here for now. I wish you a successful 2017 and I pray that God gives you the knowledge to stay afloat in this time of famine.
Best Regards,
A.C Nwosu.
