Breaking : Fire Gulps Female hostel at Absu Umuahia campus

On the 29th of November 2016,at about 9:00 pm, Room 19 in the female Hostel in Umuahia campus caught fire.

Our correspondents gathered that the fire started due to the careless use of the kitchen stove by one of the occupants of the room.

The outbreak caused a semi-riot in the female hostel as people started running to save their lives and property. Some men came right in time to save the situation.Just this same night, it was recorded that about 5 students fainted out of fear,some fell down due to the fact that the tiles were wet wit Water in a bid to put out the fire.


After some minutes, the Dean faculty of law,Dr Sam Erugo ,came to the hostel in company of the Lawsan president O'Brien Aloysius and some other influential people to inspect the case.He warned us about cooking in our rooms as this would not have happened if the student cooked in the kitchen.The students complained about the unavailability of a standard kitchen as they would not like to cook their meals in a dirty environment.
