Ogbonnaya Onu Laments Over Poor Education Standard


Former Governor Of Abia state Dr Ogbonnaya Onu on Saturday Has Stressed the need for a greater investment on academic sector
he says that education remains the bedrock of Nations Building and urged Nigerians to learn from developing countries
of the world who has  set A standard in development of a sound education system,Dr Ogbonnaya Onu stated this during
the third convocation Ceremony of Abia state University Uturu {ABSU} where he was conferred with an honorary Doctor of letters in recognition of his uncommon brilliance and commitment to human development,
Also  HRM Eze Nwachukwu Okere Iyi 1 of Iyi ukwu Ahaba isiukwuato bagged a doctorate degree in Business Administration,In Attendance was Sen.Chris Ngige,Chief Chekwas Okorie,Former Deputy Abia Governor,Chris Akomas,Deputy Governor,Emeka Anaba,Ike Nwachukwu,Dr Uche Sampson Ogah,Prof Barth Nnaji ,Captins of industries,traditional rulers.

Onu Also Stressed the Need for quick intervention and Action towards the standard of education,He also expressed worries on the poor ranking Of Nigerian University,Siting Uni-lag as 20th in Regional level.Onu expressed how he rejected the urge to handover Absu to the federal government at the time when the state depend solely on the 65m monthly allocation from federal government account. He Accounted Various Sacrifice Made to ensure the survival of the state University and Expressed that
the fight was never in vain.
He Charged the Institution to Set A higher Goal that would win her a honorary position Among the world universities.Also on the event the Pro Chancellor Senator Ike Nwachukwu Said that Dr Onu Merited the Award,Stating the achievements he has GAINED IN RECENT YEARS.Senator Ngige Also Congratulated Dr Onu Addressing him as a brave man standing out for honor,he Added that onu is one of bravest Nigerians.Finally it could be recalled that Dr Ogbonanya Onu Graduated With First Class in university Of Lagos ,Phd in Chemical engineering From University Of California Berkeley.
