Asuu strike may not be ending soon,See why.
The industrial crisis rocking Nigerian universities may worsen in the coming days, as the three major non-academic staff unions warm to join the Academic Staff Union of Universities, ASUU, on nationwide strike.
Reports say the Senior Staff Association of Nigerian Universities, SSANU, the Non-Academic Staff Union of Universities, NASU, and the Non-Academic Technicians, NAT, will take a final decision on their stand at a meeting slated for tomorrow.
This was made known by the National Public Relations Officer of SSANU, ABDULSUBUR SALAAM, who complained that the associations had been pushed to the wall by the federal government.
SALAAM said while the federal government has been discussing with the ASUU, it had not thought it necessary to respond to calls by SSANU, SANU and NAT.
He said just like ASUU, the three other unions are also concerned about the issue of staff school and earned allowances, but wandered why the discussions are handled only with the academic staff union.
Meanwhile; the strike embarked upon by ASUU is on its ninth day, and representatives of the union and the government are expected to meet again this week to reconcile their positions, after last week deliberations ended without a definite resolution.
