Shocker! -16 cultists beheaded in AAU.
Edo State Police Command has confirmed the killing of more than a dozen people in cult related violence in the university town of Ekpoma.
The town is where the state-owned Ambrose Ali University in located and the victims of the cult violence are thought to be mainly students of the institution.
The Commissioner of Police, HALISU GWANDU confirmed that fourteen suspected cultists were beheaded in the headquarters of Esan West Local Government Area.
C.P GWANDU also paraded fifty-six suspects who were arrested for alleged involvement in criminal activities, including kidnapping, armed robbery and cultism.
Our correspondent that gathered that the Commissioner of Police also displayed firearms recovered from a professor at the Ambrose Ali University.
However; the Dean of Faculty of Law at the university, Professor SUNDAY EDEKO, accused the police of brutalizing and detaining him for several hours because he dared to ask why a suspect was arrested.
In the meantime; the Deputy Inspector General of Police in charge of Training and Development, EMMANUEL INYANG, has stopped in Edo State on his nationwide tour of police formations.
D.I.G INYANG told an audience at the State Command that the Police High Command was taking steps in addressing challenges faced by state commands in curtailing crime and going after criminals.
The DIG commended the Commissioner of Police for his strategies in taming crime, adding that his visit was to encourage officers in the various formations to sustain the fight against crime.
In his response; C.P GWANDU said the success recorded by the Edo State Police Command was as a result of collaboration with stakeholders.
He disclosed that the Command has been working with support from local vigilantes, hunters and traditional rulers.
